Dan Cowan was a member of the Daimler-Chrysler Finance Management Team for 33 years. Prior to 1992, he held Controller/Finance Director assignments in both the domestic and international arena. Dan joined Chrysler’s Activity–Based Costing effort in May of 1992, as ABC Implementation Manager.
In addition to working with the ABC implementation sites within Chrysler, he led the joint venture ABC pilot program for Chryslers Supplier Network. Dan has both developed and taught courses in ABCM, Target Costing and Process Redesign. In 1995, Dan was tapped by Senior Finance Management to create the Chrysler Finance College, which has become a benchmark for corporate finance training. Dan is a former Assistant Director for the Automotive Industry Action Group and is the current past chairperson for the Finance Development Training Institute (FDTI), a consortium of twelve international companies dedicated to finance training development. Dan did his undergraduate work at Marquette University, majoring in Finance and received his MBA from the University of Michigan, where he wrote his theses on Activity Based Costing.
