Don, with over 44 years experience as a negotiator, mediator, trainer and speaker, is a Retired Commissioner with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and serves as a Board Member of Human Systems Development Group, Inc.

office work Having worked as a management professional, a union negotiator, teacher and a third party neutral, he is known internationally as an expert in the field of labor relations. As the co-designer of the Target Specific Bargaining process, an interest-based, information-driven negotiations model, Don has worked with companies throughout the United States, South Africa, Canada and Bermuda assisting management and union organizations in creating new bargaining relationships. That work has now extended to helping the parties design and install new work systems and assisting in redesigning work processes.

Don has had numerous government and private appointments in the area of labor relations and dispute resolution. He has served on the Director's Task Force to redesign the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service for the 21st Century. He currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University.

Don is active in professional associations related to industrial relations, human resource management and dispute resolution.

Don holds a Master of Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan.
