Nancy Simpson
is a labor relations and human resources professional and a Registered Nurse, with over 30 years of management experience in a comprehensive, regional health care system. Beginning her career as a staff nurse, Nancy progressively assumed more responsibility, holding the position of Manager of the medical/surgical Intensive Care Unit for 20 years. She served as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team that developed and implemented the hospital’s successful open heart surgery program. Nancy transitioned to Human Resources as the Director of Labor and Associate Relations, where she was responsible for the labor and employee relations function, both union and non-union, for the health system.
Nancy is skilled at managing change, quality improvement, training, policy development and implementation, and project planning, implementation, and evaluation. She has experience in complex employee and labor relations issues, including conflict resolution, mediation, arbitration, negotiation utilizing both traditional and interest-based/mutual gains methodologies, managerial counseling, joint labor/management committees, and building respectful, cooperative working relationships with union leadership.
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Michigan State University and is a licensed Registered Nurse.
